Why We Expanded Our Workstation Portfolio

As client demand grows for increasingly realistic and complex visualisations, our team’s hardware must handle larger workloads efficiently. This new workstation setup is designed to meet those demands head-on, allowing us to produce top-quality visuals quickly, handle larger scenes with ease, and maintain productivity without compromise. Investing in advanced technology is essential for staying competitive and ensuring we exceed client expectations on every project.

Optimised for Software

This workstation is optimised for our primary visualisation software, enhancing efficiency and workflow:

Graphisoft ArchiCAD: Supports extensive modelling and BIM requirements, handling intricate architectural models smoothly.

Maxon Cinema 4D: Multi-core CPU and real-time ray tracing from the RTX 4090 enable quick, detailed previews, essential for refining complex 3D scenes.

Chaos Corona: Relying solely on CPU power, Chaos Corona leverages Threadripper’s 32 cores for fast, stable renders, complemented by GPU-based AI denoising for quicker previews.

Adobe Creative Cloud Apps: Tools like Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro integrate seamlessly with our workflow, enabling precise post-production, video editing, and advanced compositing for photorealistic visuals and animations. The high-speed SSDs and powerful GPU ensure fast rendering and smooth handling of large files.

Workstation Specifications

With 32 cores, 64 threads, and a peak clock of 5.3 GHz, this CPU handles detailed scenes and animations efficiently, allowing for shorter render times and freeing up time for refinement.

RAM: 4x KINGSTON 64GB DDR5 (Total 256GB)

High-capacity ECC DDR5 memory at 5600MHz supports smooth handling of large models and complex textures. The ECC (Error-Correcting Code) feature adds stability, crucial for long renders and error-free data handling.

Designed for Threadripper and high-bandwidth tasks, this motherboard offers PCIe 5.0 expansion and Wi-Fi 6E, enhancing connectivity for remote collaboration and enabling scalable future upgrades.

The RTX 4090 provides 24GB of VRAM and real-time ray tracing, essential for high-resolution previews and instant adjustments. Chaos Corona’s NVIDIA GPU AI Denoiser accelerates noise reduction, producing clear, rapid feedback.

Three high-speed PCIe 4.0 SSDs (4TB for data, 1TB for OS, and 2TB for cache) ensure rapid load times, enabling efficient switching between complex projects.

A robust cooling setup with ARCTIC fans and DeepCool’s liquid cooling keeps the system stable during peak loads, allowing uninterrupted, high-quality renders.

This 80PLUS Platinum-certified PSU delivers stable power while minimising heat, supporting high-energy tasks without throttling performance.

Spacious and noise-reducing, the Define 7 XL case allows ample room for components, keeping the workstation cool and quiet even during heavy workloads.

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

Windows 11 Pro provides the stability and compatibility essential for seamless operation across Cinema 4D, Chaos Corona, and ArchiCAD.

Why This Workstation Matters

Precision in Client Revisions: The CPU’s processing power lets us quickly apply client feedback, rendering revised visuals without slowing project timelines, even with multiple design iterations.

Enhanced Realism for Approvals: High-fidelity graphics allow clients to see exact lighting, textures, and finishes, giving them confidence in approving design choices before construction.

Fast Feedback Cycles: Rapid rendering times mean we can send high-quality previews to clients within hours rather than days, accelerating the decision-making process.

Reliable for Extended Projects: Long-term architectural projects demand stability. This workstation’s cooling and power efficiency ensure we can maintain quality over prolonged periods without risks of data loss or system failure.

Detailed Visuals for Stakeholder Presentations: The GPU’s real-time ray tracing and AI denoising produce stunningly realistic visuals that make client presentations impactful, helping stakeholders envision the completed space clearly.

Efficient Handling of Large Files: Our 256GB of RAM manages extensive project files, enabling us to work on large-scale designs without delays. This is invaluable for commercial projects requiring highly detailed visuals.

Scalable for Complex Needs: Built with future expansion in mind, our setup can accommodate evolving client demands, from 3D animations to VR-ready visuals, allowing us to adapt to project complexity seamlessly.

Complex Visuals for Marketing and Sales: Our system’s powerful GPU produces visuals that go beyond design purposes—creating marketing-quality images that clients can use to promote their projects, enhancing sales potential and public engagement.

Real-Time Adjustments During Meetings: High processing power allows us to make on-the-spot adjustments while consulting with clients, demonstrating changes in lighting, materials, or layouts in real-time for a more interactive design experience.

Support for Virtual and Augmented Reality: With scalable components, our workstation can handle VR/AR applications, providing clients with immersive experiences of their spaces—ideal for walkthroughs and early-stage approvals on complex projects.

Advanced Animations for Dynamic Projects: Equipped for complex animations, our workstation allows us to create dynamic, high-quality animations that bring projects to life. These animations help clients fully visualise spatial flow, lighting transitions, and real-world functionality, giving a more complete sense of the final environment.
